Favorite Read Alouds Linky Party

I'm doing a 2nd post for another great Linky Party!  I'm a reading teacher, so this one is perfect for me!

I'm going to do a quick shout out to my former 6th Grade Reading Teacher, Mrs. Perkins. She did a read-aloud of The Cay with a hilarious Jamaican Voice. She brought in a hammock, an oar and we ate coconut when we finished it. This year, I will do more read-alouds!

My favorite books for 2nd/3rd/4th grade.

Memoirs of a Goldfish by Devin Scillian and Tim Bowers
TpT has a "FREEBIE" for Memoirs of a Goldfish

I bought this from Scholastic and my students LOVE it!  It is written as a Diary.

A Bad Case Of Stripes by David Shannon

Everyone loves No David!  I use this story to discuss character analysis b/c she goes through a lot of changes.

I could go on forever, but I will leave you with this book.  I don't own it, but I will this year!  Scholastic's awesome free resource to go with the book!

  1. I absolutely loved reading A Dog's Life... my students loved listening to it also. Have tissues handy! I will have to check out the Memoirs of a Goldfish, sounds interesting! I also just read The World According to Humphrey and Guinea Dog, both were good books.

    1. Guinea Dog sounds interesting! I'll look into it. I've changed grade levels so many times, my classroom library is pitiful! This year I'm loading up on 2nd grade and up books:)

    1. Where did you find them in WalMart? Were they in the Arts & Crafts area?

  3. Thank you for posting the link to the freebie for Memoirs of a Goldfish. I bought that book at the end of last year and was super excited to use it with my kiddos this year. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

    1. Amanda,
It's a really cute book. My kiddos loved it and the illustrations are fabulous!

On a side note, I adore your blog & blog name. I almost named mine, "The Copycat Teacher". I still really like that name.
